Spring Break, breaks the fishing wide open

Although we had the equivalent to 5 trout plants this week, from here on out until the end of May it will be more like one to two a week.  Trout plants are always heavier during April during spring break and most of the trout derbies occur in April as well.  In May we start to see more and more Bass and Catfish catches along with the trout.

Biggest CAT this week-10 lb. 12 oz. by Mark & Leslie

Biggest BASS this week- 5 lb. by Jason from Modesto

Biggest TROUT this week- 6 lb. by Greg & Ararat

Trollers continue catching trout around 20′ deep and most are using flashers and nightcrawlers.  Shore fishing is best early in the morning and PowerBait leads the pack, however many still use worms and marshmallows.  L.J. & James brought in 9 Rainbows (biggest 3 lbs.) trolling above the channel with flashers and worms.

Nycole Lopez fished with worms by the dam and hooked a 2 lb. 8 oz. trout.  Matthew from Roseville tossed a Roostertail from shore and landed a Bass.  Congrats to Chris Manley for catching his 1st TROUT on a worm!!

Jason hooked a 5 lb. Bass on spinnerbait in the inlet opening towards the bridge.  Mallory & Ryan caught 2 Catfish under the power lines on worms, Mallory caught the big one (8 lbs.) and Ryan caught a 3 lb. 8 oz.

Ernie Borello, grandson Jackson, and daughter Jen caught a limit of trout together by the dam.  They used worms and fished near the dam (biggest was 3 lbs. 4 oz.)!!  The Lor kids from Marysville used worms by the beach and caught 2 Bluegill and 4 Bass (big one weighed 3 lb.s).

Katelyn & Kassidy hooked four trout while trolling lures.  Doug Witler and daughter Rachel caught a 3lb. 8 oz.Catfish on Rainbow PowerBait.   Trolling Needlefish worked wonders for Jesse & Martha Castellanos from Granite Bay.  Their stinger of 7 trout was very impressive.  Spencer Kugler from San Jose caught a Bass on a Kastmaster his first day out  and two trout the next day on Pink PowerBait.  He told us that REAL MEN fish with PINK PowerBait!!

Mark & Leslie caught the biggest Cat (10 lb. 12 oz.) along with 4 others and 2 Bass on their stringer!  They used crawdads and fished near the willow trees on the east side of the lake.  Jeff Anderson & Terry & Dennis Lowenburg caught a limit of trout trolling with Hoochie & nightcrawler along the east side.
