Catch a Big One!

This week on Tuesday we received a double trophy trout plant which of course also includes a percentage of “catchables” or pan size.  I’m seeing equal amounts of trout limits that were caught from shore as well as boats.  PowerBait or worms are the number one bait choices from shore.  Boaters trolled with flashers and worms or such Rapalas, Kastmasters or Apex lures which showed lots of promise in this week’s catches.

David Bunting landed the biggest catch this week, a 5-1/2 lb. Rainbow from shore near the dam on chartreuse PowerBait.  Rick Adams came in with a close second, Rick was trolling with a Rapala when he netted a 5 pound trout.

John & Todd Tennier from Citrus Heights each caught a limit of trout and they trolled Apex lures, near the channel in the middle of the lake but not deep at all.  Summer Kissinger from Yuba City also limited out trolling worms in the middle of the lake.

Bobby Davis hooked a beautiful Rainbow on orange PowerBait while sitting in his boat along the east side of the lake.  Bailey & Darrell caught two BASS while tossing plastic worms in Elmer’s Cove.

The Bass are starting to bite, good sign of spring!!  With the warmer temps remaining consistent we are starting to see some nice Bass catches.  Dianne Lovings of Sac hooked two Bass and two Rainbows by the dam using nightcrawlers for bait.

Eric & Ryan Griesa fished in about 15′ of water with PowerBait in their boat by the dam and took home two limits of trout (big one a 3 lb.).  Levi Barnes caught his 1st fish ever on his Superman Fishing Pole and it was “love at first sight” Mom said he couldn’t stop hugging it!!!

Jordin & Jayson caught a great stringer of trout with their Dad on Dad’s homemade lures.  Terry Malone from Yuba City left one fish shy of his limit, he fished from shore by the dam using PowerBait.
