Yesterday we received a HUGE PRIVATE  trout plant of 1,800 lbs.  This isn’t the last plant of the planting season but it will shortly come to a halt as our lake’s surface temperatures continue to rise.  Although the trout must retreat soon to the cooler water which is deeper in the channel, there is still plenty of them being caught from shore in the morning when temperatures are cooler.  Trollers are still catching trout between 10′ down to 25′ down.

Landen Santos from Escalon caught his 1st TROUT trolling a Rapala near the dam this week.  Lauren Schmitt fished with PowerBait by the dam and caught two nice trout.  Jacob Sarver of Lincoln, Ca. also fished by the dam with PowerBait and caught his trout.

Robby Robinson from Stinson Beach & Steve Cantrell of Yuba City trolled with flashers and nightcrawlers and they both limited out on Rainbows.  Little Olema Schubert tossed a crawdad and caught a trout which weighed 1-1/2 lbs.

The Valero Clan hooked a 3-1/2 lb. trout as their biggest on a stringer of 6 total and they fished with garlic PowerBait in the Open Area.  Dan & Pete of Sac. fished with worms between the dam and the dock and hooked 4 nice trout.  Andrea Ramirez of Penn Grove limited out on trout and her big one was a whopping 3 lb. 4 oz. and she used a worm and PowerBait combo!

A 2 lb. 4 oz. trout was reeled in by little Grace Westford of Vallejo, Ca. and she looks “really happy” about that one! Josh Bird & Nick Hunter from the C.A.S.T. for Kids event last Sat. had an absolute blast catching Bass.  They used worms or top water lures and moved about the lake in lots of spots and with the help of David Baker and Joe Stout they brought in a stringer of 10 Bass!  Kevin & David from Yuba City also caught 10 Bass and the biggest one on their stringer was 5 pounds!  They moved around quite a bit too but fished in shallow water, tossing rubber worms.

Dale Mansfield of Forbestown caught an 8 lb. 12 oz. Catfish on a live minnow in Elmer’s Cove.  With the “showing” of recent Catfish catches and Bass catches, it’s a clear indication of water temperatures rising since they are “warm water fish”.

Eleanor Paladini from SAC. outfished her hubby, she limited out on trout and Larry only got two fish!  I’ve heard that story over and over, the wife or the kids usually catch all the fish while the Dad is busy baiting lines, driving the boat, netting the fish, etc.  Bill & Kathy Corrie caught their trout by the bridge on PowerBait.

Patrick Callen from Dixon, celebrated his Birthday here at our lake fishing with Tim Callen from Penn Grove and it couldn’t have been any better, they both limited out on trout while trolling a worm and a wedding ring spinner.
