Weather is unpredictable, fishing is not!

The fish really don’t care what the weather does, at least the Trout don’t.  They have been consistently hanging out in five to fifteen feet of water.  The fishing last week was great, most of the days were sunny and warm expect Friday when it rained all day and all night.  The Bass have retreated to the deeper water due to the cold snap, so we don’t expect to see them again until the surface temp is back up to their liking (around 58 degrees) As of this morning we are 47 degrees surface temperature.

Charles Moore started off the week with a limit of Rainbows he caught off orange powerbait.  The Roncoroni Family of Woodland  landed a “close second” with three gorgeous Trout also caught from shore on sherbert powerbait.  Aaron Tomiyama of Roseville “flexed his muscles” with his 4 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow hooked up on his Kastmaster from shore.  Tim Halterman’s 3 lb. 8 oz. was no slacker either, he caught his on yellow corn powerbait.

Cruz & Christopher used rainbow powerbait to capture their three Trout.  Little Jacob Clausen never left his site, he found a deep fishing hole close by and caught two Trout on rainbow powerbait.

Cassie Tabler of Chico caught her 1st fish at Collins Lake-Way Cool……..  Her rainbow Trout weighed a pound and a quarter, Cassie caught her fish in the Open Area on powerbait.  Alyssa Clark of Petaluma also caught her 1st fish here on the same day using yellow powerbait in the main campground.

Nick & Jake worked the shoreline by the dam and  brought a few Trout home for supper, the biggest won was a 3 lb. 8 oz. !!  Jason & Burt alternated between worms and lures off the beach and hooked three Trout too.  Sophia Garcia of Elk Grove was proud as punch of her Trout which she caught in the Open Area on powerbait.

Katie Elliott of Rocklin had a fantastic day of fishing and ended it with her 4 lb. monster Trout.  Her family and her took another three Trout as well, well done miss Katie.  Bobbie Greehling  from Plumas Lake came to our lake and hooked a 3 lb. Trout on powerbait off the sandy beach.  Devon Lake fished our lake and netted a trout on powerbait by the dam.

Chris & Carolyn Luke of Antelope spent a week of bliss camping and fishing and each caught a Rainbow Trout each, I think Carolyn’s was bigger!  Matt, Ike, & Guy topped their stringer with a 4 pounder, they trolled with a yellow/black Mepps lure.   Joshua of Chico trolled orange Rapalas and took home a couple nice trout.

It was a great week, lots of big fish, and more to come- next week we are expecting another 1,300 pounds of Rainbows.  Join us for day use of camping with lots of  expectations and an appetite for ice cream!!
