Summer has begun

I think the rain is over for awhile which is fine with us since we have a full lake and the campers are in high expectation of good weather!!  Memorial Day Weekend produced some nice fish but last week we had 3 Trout over 8 lbs. that were caught.  John Eddings of Browns Valley netted his Rainbow up by the bridge, caught on a white grub.  Randy Camara of Fremont hooked his from the boat dock using a worm and Brenda Alvarado of Modesto trolled a shad pattern Rapala about 30′ down in the middle of the lake.  No two were caught in the same area or the same method, it’s the luck of the draw!

A hot spot for Trout reported over and over this past week is the power lines up towards the bridge. You need a boat to get there and trolling or bottom fishing has been working really well.  Leonard Rammel of Clipper Mills landed a stringer ot Trout, biggest was a 4 lb. and the smallest had a Red Tag (value $100 cash) attached to it.

Michael Cobbold, Joey Hobbs, and Peanut score every time they fish here on their homemade concoction of pizza dough!  Their two biggest weighed in at 4 lb. 8 oz. &  3 lb. 8 oz. and they took home 10 total.  The Johnson family reunion went well, caught lots of fish and bonded once again. Their dog Cocoa was our “pet rock” photo on picture of the week.

Lisa Lagrimas found her beautiful 5 lb. 4 oz. Bow on the east side of the lake using Powerbait. Withold Schattner (Frank’s Dad) came fishing while visiting from Florida and would you believe that at 80 yrs. old he caught his “very 1st  fish ever” at Collins Lake?
