Our weather is perfect

Finally, we get a reprieve from the 100 degree temperatures!! I woke up today to a crisp 45 degree morning and we are expecting a high in the upper 70’s to low 80’s for the next 5 days.   The lake is down by 41 feet and the boat launch is not a problem. Last year when it was low this time of year we did some maintenance to the ramp so launching will always work well no matter how low we get. In past years we have had to use an alternate ramp in the late fall but that is no longer necessary.

We have had some great catches to report this week!!  Jerry Freeman of Live Oak scored Big on Catfish on two different days. He caught 5 Cats between three to five pounds the first time and 5 more Cats ranging from three to seven pounds the second time.  He used Sardines for bait both times and fished from his boat at night in Elmer’s Cove.  Elmer’s Cove is by campsite #30 and is best accessed by boat.

Dylan Anderson of Marysville caught a nice Bass on a Jig and his uncle John Anderson of Vallejo hooked a trout on their outing.   Probhat hooked a 3 lb. 12 oz. Bass on his day off while fishing from the rental boat dock by the launching ramp. Virginia Martinez only got “one hit” the whole day.  She did manage to hook a pretty good size Redear Sunfish.

Weldon Powell of Penn Valley trolled a Rapala near the powerlines and netted a Trout. Cody Barrie of Gridley managed to catch his Trout from the dock while nightfishing with a light.  Cody used green powerbait and his fish had a “green tag” on it. The tags are different colors and this tag meant he won a coupon for $5 off day use or  camping.

Corey Ocheltree of Roseville fished from shore in the Open Area using PowerBait and caught a 3 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow Trout.  Jay Lucero of Rocklin scored a 3 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow & a 5 lb. 4 oz. Catfish near the bridge.

Richard Loureiro of Lakewood came camping with his brother Tom Loureiro of Colfax and Richard caught the first fish. Actually he caught a 3 lb. Catfish and a Bluegill.  In Keri’s conversation with him she found out that he interviewed for the TV show called “Wipeout”.  He was chosen for the show and will be taped next week so watch for him.  His brother Tom showed him up with his 3 lb. 10 oz. Catfish but the competition between them is just heating up, they still have a couple more days left……
