This year would be our 2nd year coming up to the lake and we absolutely love it!! We were introduced to Collins by some friends and we now have brought new friends up with us everytime we go. It is a wonderful family lake with so much to do for kids of all ages and believe me, we have a 7, 5, 14 month old as well as 1 more on the way. My husband loves the fishing as well as my son, as for me and my daughters, it's the "ICE CREAM!!!" You now have new loyal visitors and we look forward to returning hopefully 1 more time this year but we will definetely be back next summer!!! Sincerely, |
I live in Sacramento and I've been a loyal Collins Lake regular since 1990. Without fail, every time I visit I get nostalgic and it's like I'm at my second home! Last year I got engaged and I brought my fiance to see what I was bragging about and she too fell in love with Collins where incidentally she managed to catch her very first fish ever! I visit many of the lakes and rivers in northern California but Collins Lake seperates itself effortlessly from every other place I've seen. Not only by it's superior fishing conditions and beautiful scenery, but also by it's staff who is by far the best group of people I have ever encountered at a recreational lake! I live within a mile of Discovery Park, where the Sacramento river and the American river meet and I would much rather drive all the way to Oregon House to spend the night and fish from the same rocks I've known for 14 years. | Collins Lake is an awesome Lake. My family just started to go there in March of 2001. When we first went there the weather was horrible it rained all weekend, but that didn't stop my cousin and I from fishing. We caught some nice sized planted trout. The reason we came back in April is because lots of people kept telling us that March & April is the best time to go for fishing for trout, so we decided hey let's give it a shot. So we did and WOW! We brought home 10 trout, four of them larger than 5 pounds. We caught 2- 5 pounders, (1) - 7 lb. 8 oz., and the largest one which my brother-in-law caught was an 8 lb. 8 oz. He won the Biggest Trout for the Week & the Biggest for the Month of April. Way to go Elmo!! We also love the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff at Collins Lake. | We have been going to the lake for 8 years and can't get enough of it. We love the staff, all of them are so nice and go out of their way to help in any way they can. I love all the young people and the oldies too!! We have shown our friends the lake and now we can't come alone anymore, the ICE CREAMS are the best@ the store. | This is just one of the many praises to all the staff at Collins Lake. We Have stayed at Collins Lake 4 times in the past 3 years with are recent trip June 12, 1999 till June 17, and each time we are there it only gets better with the service. Yes the Staff does try and is doing a great job for all the campers to feel like family. The campsites are extremely clean and the surrounding areas in the camp grounds are just the same way CLEAN!Other camp ground facilities can learn from Collins Lake. | Our family has been camping yearly at Collins Lake for the past 18 years. We love the water skiing, the employees are always there to assist you in any way they can and we feel it is a safe place with a good security program. We are building family traditions, the 9 grandchildren (ages 7 to 6 mos.) look forward to Collins Lake camping every year and talk about it all year long. Even the 2 new babies came this year!!
